The Kano government has referred the petitions and counter-petitions concerning recent comments made by Sheikh Lawan Triumph to the Kano State Shura Council for further deliberation.

This was announced in a statement on Friday.

The petitions were submitted by several faith-based Islamic organisations, including Safiyatul Islam of Nigeria, Tijjaniya Youths Enlightenment Forum, and Interfaith Parties for Peace and Development, among others.

The government directed that all the petitions be forwarded to the council for careful study and advice.

It stated that the Kano government was unwaveringly committed to maintaining peace, unity, and mutual respect among all religious groups in the state.

The government urged the residents of Kano to remain calm, law-abiding, and continue their normal activities.

“The government’s directive aims to ensure a thorough examination of the petitions and promote peace within the state’s religious communities,” said the statement.
