Kano mob lynches suspect for allegedly murdering man at Kano mosque

The Kano State Police Command says a local resident identified as Ladan Zubairu was killed by an unknown assailant at Yusuf Garko Mosque in Maraba Quarters, Kano.
A statement by the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Monday said the suspect was pursued by a mob and lynched.
He explained that the mob also set fire to the suspect’s residence.
Mr Kiyawa said normalcy had been restored in the area, and security personnel had been deployed to maintain law and order.
According to him, investigators recovered the victim’s throat from the suspect’s pocket, adding that both bodies were taken to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, Kano, where they were confirmed dead and await autopsy.
Mr Kiyawa said the commissioner of police, Ibrahim Bakori, had ordered a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies as the investigation continues.
“Citizens with any information that will help in the course of the investigation are urged to contact the nearest police station. All information will be treated confidentially,” he said.
