Kano pilgrims board clears refunds, urges intending pilgrims to verify payments

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board says it has paid outstanding refunds to intending pilgrims for the 2026 hajj.
The board’s director-general, Abubakar Ibrahim-Matawalle, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
“The refunds were made to pilgrims who had earlier paid the initial Hajj fare. About five batches of beneficiaries have received their payments,” stated Mr Ibrahim-Matawalle. “The initial fare of N8.5 million was reduced to N7.6 million, and the balance has been fully refunded.”
Mr Ibrahim-Matawalle advised intending pilgrims yet to receive their refunds to contact their banks or liaise with hajj officers in their respective local government areas.
He added that the board had fully discharged its responsibility regarding the payment of outstanding balances.
