Kano police arrest two suspects over possession of firearm

The police command in Kano State has arrested two suspects over possession of a firearm and recovered a locally fabricated revolver pistol with live ammunition in the state.
In a statement on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the suspects were arrested on Sunday at about 10:30 p.m., during the patrol along Sokoto Road.
He stated that the police team attached to the farm centre intercepted a tricycle on reasonable suspicion.
“Upon an on-the-spot search, one Rufai Ahmed ‘M’, 19 years old, of Hotoro Quarters, Kano, was found with a bag containing one locally fabricated revolver pistol with two (2) rounds of live ammunition,” he said.
Mr Kiyawa stated that the suspect was immediately arrested and the exhibit recovered.
According to him, following a discreet investigation, the police arrested an additional suspect, Aliyu Ibrahim ‘M’, 19 years old, of Kawo Quarters, Kano, in connection with the case.
