Kano political critic Khalil Dan Shagamu slaughtered at his residence

Khalil Dan Shagamu, a political critic based in Kano, was killed at his residence on Wednesday.
Mr Shagamu was found in a pool of his blood at his home in Gaida, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State.
Human rights organisation Amnesty International, in a statement on Wednesday, strongly condemned “the killing of a social media political commentator Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu whose body was found today in a pool of blood at his home in Kano. He was brutally slaughtered after being overpowered by his killers.”
It added, “The Nigerian authorities must investigate this incident and ensure that those suspected of responsibility are brought to justice. @PoliceNG. As the elections approach, we continue to receive disturbing reports of politically related threats to life and intimidation.”
The vice presidential candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress, Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former Kano governor, also condemned the killing of Mr Dan Shagamu, calling for an investigation to arrest his killers.
“I am deeply disturbed by the killing of the renowned social media political commentator Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu, whose body was found today in a pool of his blood at his home in Kano,” Mr Kwankwaso said in a statement on X.
He added, “Dan Shagamu was brutally slaughtered in a horrific attack. I strongly urge the Kano State Government to immediately constitute an investigative panel to thoroughly probe this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. Should the authorities fail to take decisive and transparent action, the incoming NDC Government will, upon assumption of office, launch a full investigation and take all necessary steps to hold those responsible accountable.”
