Kano road agency intercepts stolen multimillion-naira ICT equipment

The Kano State Road and Traffic Agency says it has intercepted ICT equipment valued at N80 million, allegedly stolen from a school in the Kano metropolis.
Its managing director, Faisal Mahmud, said this in a statement on Wednesday.
The agency said that a patrol team of the agency intercepted the equipment allegedly stolen from Aisha Shehu Government Junior Secondary School, Kuka, in Fagge LGA.
It stated that suspected thieves burgled the school’s ICT room through the roof and carted away solar panels, computers, and other accessories.
“The thieves, who are about 10 in number, overpowered the security guards, tied them, and commenced their evil acts around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The agency received a distressed call around past 2:00 am, and immediately mobilised and stormed the school. On sighting the patrol vehicles, the thieves abandoned the stolen equipment and fled,” said the statement.
While commending the personnel for prompt response to the distress call, Mr Mahmud urged the public to cooperate with the agency to safeguard lives and property.
Rufa’atu Mahmud, the school’s principal, commended the agency for its vigilance.
She stated that the equipment was provided under the World Bank-funded AGILE project, which aims to deepen ICT knowledge among girls in Kano.
