Kano to establish institute on water, sanitation, health

Kano State Government says plans are underway to establish a new institute on water, sanitation and health in the state.
This is contained in a statement on Sunday in Kano by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Farouk Ghali-Masanawa.
Mr Ghali-Masanawa quoted the state Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Dr Abdulkadir Abdussalam, as saying this after he chaired a stakeholders’ meeting on the establishment of the institute.
The commissioner said the proposed institute when established would be the first of its kind in the country.
Mr Abdussalam commended stakeholders for their support and cooperation towards the realisation of the initiative’s objectives.
He assured that the ministry would continue to provide necessary logistics for the committee to develop workable solutions to challenges in water, sanitation and health in both urban and rural communities.
Earlier, the Managing Director of the Kano State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), Shamwilu Abdulkadir-Isa, said the meeting was attended by representatives from the Kano State House of Assembly, academia, and ministries of health and local government affairs.
He added that the stakeholders contributed to discussions on the proposed establishment of the institute and strategies to improve water, sanitation and health delivery in the state.
