Kantigi wins Niger PDP governorship primary

Former commissioner Isah Kantigi has polled 667 vote to win the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Niger.

Former commissioner Isah Kantigi has polled 667 vote to win the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Niger.

The Chairman of the state electoral panel and deputy governor of Bayelsa state, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, made this known on Thursday, while announcing the results in Minna.

Mr Ewhrudjakpo said that the closest rival to Mr Kantigi, Idris Mohammed scored 114 vote, Abdullahi Jankara, 21 vote, followed by Abdulrahman Gimba and Sidi Abdul who got three and zero vote respectively.

He said that the exercise recorded three invalid vote, out of 805 vote cast with 808 accredited vote.

The electoral panel Chairman commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and members of the party for ensuring the success of the exercise.
