Katsina State government says it has trained and distributed empowerment starter kits to 1,000 adolescent girls to make them productive and creative while in their matrimonial homes.

Governor Dikko Radda said this during the distribution of empowerment kits to beneficiaries on Monday in Katsina.

He said the training was conducted at nine skills-acquisition centres of the Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development of the state.

“In addition to certificates, our graduands are receiving empowerment kits to support their transition from training to productivity.

“Training without tools limits impact. We want our girls to leave here prepared, confident and equipped to begin their journey immediately.

“I urged you to use the kits responsibly, creatively and productively. Let them be a foundation for your livelihood and a source of pride to your families and communities,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment where every citizen could thrive.

He commended a Katsina-based company, the Green House, for its commitment to recruiting 300 of the graduands.

“Together, we shall continue to build a state where opportunity is shared and talent is nurtured,” he said.

Earlier, the special adviser to the governor on girl child education, Jamila Abdu-Mani, commended the state government for the empowerment materials.

Ms Abdu-Mani urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given to them.

She assured that their doors were always open to the private sector wishing to partner with the department to support the vulnerable in the state.

One of the trainees, Fatima Ibrahim, from Katsina centre, on behalf of the others, thanked the government for the training and the empowerment package.

She urged her colleagues to make judicious use of the items distributed to them to better their lives.
