Katsina: JSC appoints first female chief registrar

According to him, the appointment followed the retirement of Mustapha Hassan-Rumah from service.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Basira Umar as the first female chief registrar of the Katsina State High Court of Justice since the creation of the state in 1987.

This was announced in a statement issued to journalists in Katsina on Saturday by Musa Usman, director, protocols of the state’s High Court of Justice.

According to him, the appointment followed the retirement of Mustapha Hassan-Rumah from service.

He explained that the chief registrar is the chief accounting officer, responsible for the court’s financial matters, including budget preparation and management.

“The chief registrar also serves as the administrative head of the judiciary, overseeing its day-to-day operations.

“Until her appointment, the new chief registrar was the Director (Deputy Chief Registrar) Multi Door Court,” he said.
