Wife of the lawmaker representing Zango constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly, Jamila Tasiu-Maigari, has empowered no fewer than 1,000 women to improve their small-scale businesses.

She distributed soybeans, beans, maize, millet, and N5,000 to each of the beneficiaries at Zango on Sunday.

Speaking at the event, the first lady of the state, Zulaihat Radda, commended Ms Tasiu-Maigari’s initiative.

Ms Radda stated that the gesture was a complementary effort to the state government’s ongoing programmes aimed at uplifting women and other vulnerable groups.

She urged wives of other lawmakers to emulate Ms Tasiu-Maigari, whom, she praised for her commitment to improving the welfare of women in her constituency.

The governor’s wife highlighted the strides of the APC-led administration under Governor Dikko Radda in improving the lives of people.

Ms Radda further assured the citizens of the administration’s continued support for women, children, and other less-privileged members of the society.

She also reaffirmed her open-door policy to associations and organisations committed to grassroots empowerment.

Similarly, the deputy governor’s wife, Asmau Jobe, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support provided and advised them to uphold personal and environmental hygiene in their communities.

The wife of the speaker of the assembly, Safa-Nasir, lauded the gesture, and encouraged women to remain supportive of government policies and programmes.

Ms Tasiu-Maigari explained that the empowerment programme was part of her commitment to complement her husband’s efforts towards promoting women’s economic independence.

She expressed gratitude to the governor’s wife for her continued concern and encouragement for women of Zango and the state at large.
