Katsina recorded 123 reported criminal cases: Police

The police command in Katsina said it recorded no fewer than 123 reported criminal cases in November.
The command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, stated this at a press briefing on the activities of the command.
He said that out of those reported cases, 108 had been charged to court, while 15 cases were currently under investigation.
Mr Aliyu listed the cases to include armed robbery, culpable homicide and murder, counterfeit currency, unnatural/rape and illicit drug offences, among others.
He said that the police recovered three AK-47 rifles, over 183 rounds of live ammunition, four motor vehicles and 32 suspected rustled animals.
Others, he said, were 212,100 pieces of Exol tablets, 3,720 tramadol tablets, 67 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis and 50 metres of vandalised high-tension cables, among others.
He, however, revealed that in spite of those modest achievements, more work needed to be done.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to protect and serve the community, and we call on all stakeholders to join us in this fight against crime,” Mr Aliyu said.
He also expressed gratitude to the inspector-general of police for his unwavering support and guidance, which has been instrumental.
“We equally appreciate the state government for its continued support and cooperation, which has helped us to effectively combat crime and ensure a safer environment for all residents of Katsina State,” Mr Aliyu said.
