Katsina’s huge investment in education paying off: Commissioner

The Katsina State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Zainab Musa-Musawa, said the state is witnessing improvement in quality education.

Ms Musa-Musawa said this in Katsina on Friday during the celebration of the 2025 International Day of Education.

The theme of 2025 International Day of Education is “AI and education: Preserving human agency in a world of automation.’’

The commissioner said the theme highlighted the need to ensure that education was used to prepare the students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

She further stressed that the investment in the education sector by the state Governor Dikko Radda, was already yielding a myriad of positive results.

“The huge investment in education by the governor is paying off, as the sector records improvement in the quality of education,” she said.

Ms Musa-Musawa said that the education sector remained one of the top priorities of the Radda’s APC-led administration,

She stated, “Radda is committed to providing the best education for the youth. The event also showcased a display of technological equipment made by the students, demonstrating their creativity and innovation.’’

Ms Musa-Musawa also praised the students’ performance.

She said, “I am impressed by the talents and innovation on display today. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and teachers.”

Ms Musa-Musawa also called on the stakeholders to continue to support the government to revamp the education sector.

She said, “We need your support to continue to improve the quality of education in our state. I assure you that the ministry is committed to supporting the governor’s vision for the sector. We’ll continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our students receive the best possible education.’’

The Deputy Governor, Faruq Lawal-Jobe, noted that the state had spent more than N120 billion in the education sector.

The event was organised in collaboration with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment.
