Kebbi APC delegates endorse Governor Nasir Idris for second term

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has emerged as candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 governorship election after securing unanimous endorsement from delegates across the state’s 225 wards.
The affirmation took place on Thursday at the Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi, during the party’s governorship primary election.
Declaring the winner during the exercise, Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee for Kebbi, Abdulmalik Mahmud, a former deputy governor of Bauchi State, said the process reflected the collective decision of party members in the state.
Mr Mahmud said the committee was constituted by the APC national headquarters to conduct the primary election in Kebbi.
“Our assignment here is simple because APC members in Kebbi have already spoken with one voice,” he said.
He noted that delegates and party officials from the 225 wards in the state were fully represented at the venue, describing the turnout as a demonstration of unity and confidence in the governor’s leadership.
“Having fulfilled all constitutional and party requirements, I hereby declare Governor Nasir Idris as the duly elected APC governorship candidate for Kebbi,” Mr Mahmud stated.
Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, said party members across the 21 local government areas unanimously resolved to return Idris, popularly known as “Kauran Gwandu,” as the party’s standard bearer for the 2027 election.
Mr Kana-Zuru said the affirmation was a reflection of the governor’s performance and growing acceptance among the people of the state.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Idris expressed appreciation to APC members, stakeholders and residents of the state for the confidence reposed in him.
The governor pledged to consolidate on the achievements of his administration through the execution of more people-oriented projects and inclusive governance.
“I am delighted that our people have collectively expressed confidence in our leadership and asked us to continue serving them. This endorsement is a clear indication that the people appreciate what we are doing. We will continue to provide purposeful leadership and ensure that development reaches every part of Kebbi,” he said.
Mr Idris also thanked President Bola Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee and party stakeholders for their support and encouragement.
“I am humbled by this overwhelming endorsement. We will build on the successes already recorded and continue to run an administration that accommodates all segments of society,” he added.
The governor urged party members to remain united and steadfast in supporting the APC at all levels to sustain the developmental strides being recorded in the state.
“With your continued cooperation and support, we will transform Kebbi State into a greater and more prosperous state,” Mr Idris said.
