The Kebbi State police command has arrested two suspects linked to the abduction of three military recruits along the Anka/Bukuyum Road in Zamfara State.

A statement on Tuesday by Bashir Usman, the command’s spokesman, said the suspects were arrested on Saturday along the Anka axis.

“The suspects, Abubakar Mallan Abubakar ‘M’ of Gargam Village, Bagega, Anka LGA, Zamfara State and Usman Muhammadu ‘M’ of Ajera, Ilorin, Kwara State, were arrested on 1st August 2026 at about 0615hrs, in a targeted operation based on credible intelligence,” he said.

He said during preliminary investigation, one of the suspects made useful disclosures regarding the abduction of the three military recruits in July 2026 along the Kwanan Mayanchi–Gurusu axis of Zamfara State.

“One of the victims is Kabiru Hassan of Ribah, Danko/Wasagu LGA, while the other two victims are from Zuru LGA. The victims have since regained their freedom,” Mr Usman added.

The spokesman noted that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, commended the officers involved in the operation, reaffirming the command’s commitment to identifying, arresting and prosecuting all persons connected with the case.
