Kickoff date announced for 2023/24 Premier League season
Kickoff date for the 2023/24 season of the English top flight division, Premier League, has been scheduled for August 12, 2023, the organisers announced on Tuesday after.
The Premier League took to its official Facebook page today, stating that the next season of the most watched sports league in the world will begin in August next year.
The last round of matches is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
The upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar has altered the calendar of the ongoing season.
It would be a return of the league to a normal calendar, following disruption in the timeframe of the past three seasons due to COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of efforts to reduce the number of matches during Christmas and New Year seasons, the league said, “two rounds in this period will take place within 48 hours of each other.”
The calendar for the 2023/24 season will afford the opportunity for the return of the mid-season player break, which will take place between January 13 to 20, and also allow players to rest after the completion of the current season.
