Condemnation has trailed a viral video showing the senator representing Osun East senatorial district, Francis Fadahunsi, instructing members of the All Progressives Congress to “kill” Accord Party members in Ilesa, Osun State, ahead of the Saturday’s governorship election.

The senator made the statement while addressing some of his supporters and APC members in Ilesa on Tuesday.

Speaking in Yoruba, Mr Fadahunsi, one of the top campaigners of APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, told his followers to hunt down any Accord Party members in Ilesa.

Mr Fadahunsi, who dared the people at the gathering to video-record him and share it on social media, said, “If you see any Accord Party member in Ilesa from now on to the day of the election, kill them.”

His statement was met with loud cheers from his followers donning APC caps.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, berated Mr Fadahunsi over his statement, describing it as undemocratic and inciting.

“This is a serious threat to lives and the peaceful conduct of the August 15 election,” Mr Olajengbesi stated.

The council urged the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to immediately address the development, adding no one has the right to stop Osun State people from voting.

He added, “Mr Inspector-General of Police, this must be addressed immediately. Nobody has the right to kill an Accord member or any citizen. Nobody has the right to stop Osun people from voting. Enough is enough!”

The police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Zechariah, did not reply to a request seeking comment on Mr Fadahunsi’s statement as of the time this report was filed.

The latest incident came amid heightened violence in the state ahead of the Saturday’s governorship election.
