The Kogi government has inaugurated a state grievance redress committee for the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up.

The commissioner for women affairs and social development, Acharu Okpanachi, charged members of the committee to discharge their duties with integrity, neutrality, professionalism and dedication.

Ms Okpanachi, represented by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Bilkisu Raji, gave the charge during the inauguration of the committee on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Esther Amehadaji, the state project coordinator, will chair the committee, and Umar Odekina will serve as secretary.

Ms Okpanachi described the committee as a critical structure in the project implementation process.

The committee is expected to ensure effective resolution of complaints, feedback and conflicts arising from the implementation of the project.

“It will also ensure that complaints, feedback and conflicts are handled fairly, promptly and with respect for human dignity,” she said.

Ms Okpanachi noted that the state government remains committed to creating an enabling environment for the successful implementation of the project and ensuring that women across the state benefit from the intervention.

Earlier, Ms Amehadaji confirmed the implementation of the project in Okene, Yagba East and Dekina council areas.

She expressed optimism that government approval would soon be secured to extend the project to Ofu, Lokoja and Adavi LGAs.
