Kogi govt, NDLEA intercept sacks of illicit drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, in collaboration with the Kogi government, have intercepted a large volume of illicit drugs allegedly worth millions of Naira in the state.
Information commissioner Kingsley Fanwo disclosed this to journalists in Lokoja.
Mr Fanwo said the breakthrough came as a result of a coordinated operation carried out by the government and the NDLEA following an intelligence report.
He said the large consignment of illicit drugs, which were neatly concealed in a truck, was moving through the state to an unknown destination.
According to him, the identity of the drug kingpin and the final destination of the consignment remain undisclosed.
“Already, investigations on the matter are ongoing. We shall get to the root of it and ensure the kingpin and those involved are fished out to face the wrath of the law.
“The administration of Governor Ahmed Ododo will continue to join hands with NDLEA in fighting against all forms of illicit drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
“We are fixing our eyes on all the passenger routes to ensure that such deadly drugs don’t enter or pass through Kogi,” he said.
The commissioner, however, commended the NDLEA for its relentless efforts to ensure residents of Kogi are protected from the effects of illicit drugs.
