Kogi graduate gruesomely murdered with shovel by ex-convicts

The police command in Kogi says it has detained three suspects linked to the gruesome killing of a young graduate and recovered his stolen tricycle.
ASP Afusat Saliu, the command’s spokeswoman, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
The suspects were arrested on March 25, at Otokiti Estate, Lokoja. According to Ms Saliu, two of the suspects, allegedly posing as construction workers, lured the victim to a secluded area, killed him using a shovel and stole his tricycle.
Ms Saliu said the victim’s family had reported him missing on March 18, after he left home on his tricycle, only to later find his lifeless body on March 19, around CBN zone 8, Lokoja.
She explained that investigation led to the arrest of the two suspects, who confessed to the crime and revealed that they sold the tricycle to the third suspect.
The command’s spokesperson said the police recovered the tricycle alongside four other stolen motorcycles from the third suspect in Anyigba, Dekina council area.
She said further investigation revealed that the suspects were ex-convicts, previously linked to several murder and armed robbery cases.
Ms Saliu said the suspects have been charged to court and assured the public that the police were committed to ridding the state of crime.
