Kogi to construct modern broadcast facility to strengthen information dissemination

Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, has outlined the state’s plan to improve information dissemination through the construction of a state-of-the-art broadcast station in Okene Eba.
Mr Fanwo disclosed this during an inspection visit to the project site on Tuesday.
The commissioner said that the project was directed to strengthen government-citizen engagement and expand broadcast coverage across Kogi Central and neighbouring communities.
Mr Fanwo said that the facility would serve as a permanent operational base for personnel of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation and form part of the government’s broader communication infrastructure upgrade programme.
According to him, the programme also includes the remodelling of booster stations in Ocheja and Egbe to improve radio transmission across the state.
He said that Okene-Eba had operated without a permanent broadcast facility, making the project both strategic and long overdue.
The commissioner commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for supporting the ongoing upgrade of radio transmission infrastructure.
Mr Fanwo described radio broadcast as the most trusted and widely accessible medium for mobilising, sensitising and informing residents, stressing the need to strengthen the platform.
He said that the Okene-Eba station had recently experienced transmission challenges due to equipment failure and the high cost of maintaining obsolete devices, resulting in temporary service disruptions.
The commissioner, however, assured residents that immediate repairs and long-term technical solutions were being implemented to improve service delivery.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that residents receive timely, accurate and reliable information across the state.
