Kuje assumes duty as Bingham University VC

The institution spokesperson said in a statement that Mr Kuje joined the university with a wealth of experience.

The New Vice-Chancellor of the Bingham University Karu, Nasarawa State, Prof. Haruna Kuje, has assumed duty.

This is contained in a statement by the Directorate of Public Affairs, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Bingham University, Mr Daburi Misal, on Tuesday.

Mr Kuje was appointed by Bingham Board of Trustees, following the recommendations of the Governing Council of the university.

According to the statement, Mr Kuje, who assumed duty on January 8, is a professor of Biogeography and Environmental Science and started his academic pursuit at the Ado Bayero University, Kano.

“He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography and proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, where he earned a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Geography with a specialisation in Biogeography. Kuje has received numerous professional training from both national and international institutions such as the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, International Quality Assurance in Higher Education Cameroon. Others were Global University Network Innovation Cameroon, German Academic Exchange Services, Germany Rectors Conference, Alexander VON Humboldt Centre for Higher Education Development,” the statement said.

The statement added that the new vice-chancellor is a member of professional bodies such as the Association of Nigerian Geographers and the Nigerian Environmental Study/Action Team.

He is also a member of the Nigerian Environmental Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was the immediate past deputy vice-chancellor at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, where he received a Distinguished Service Award for serving meritoriously, as such comes with a wealth of experience.

Mr Kuje took over from Prof. William Barnabas Qurix, who had served the university meritoriously for six years.
