The Minister of works, David Umahi, has lashed out at a former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, accusing him of desperately pushing false divisive narratives against President Bola Ahmed to deceive northerners and inherit former president Muhammadu Buhari’s flawless legacy.


Mr Umahi, in a statement circulated by Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for Mr Tinubu, said contrary to Mr Kwankwaso’s statement, “Tinubu is committed to developing every part of the country with fairness and equity.

“I consider this statement as grave misleading information made intentionally to deceive our brothers and sisters in the North and to pretend that he loves the North more than any other leader from the North.’

“I consider  Sen. Kwankwaso’s statement as statement made out of desperation and as part of his struggle with few others who believe that they can inherit the impeccable legacy of our dear late President  Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR and that the only way available for them  towards achieving same  is to be divisive and pretentious.”


Highlighting ongoing projects in each of the six geo-political zones, Mr Umahi said, “I can say with all sense of responsibility that President Tinubu is a fair President. He has favoured the North in road development more than the South, especially North-West, where Senator Kwankwaso comes from.” 

He stated, “Trying to be  like our late President Buhari cannot be a job of three decades and  cannot be done with deceit.”

At the Kano State Government public hearing on constitution review on Thursday, Mr Kwankwaso accused Mr Tinubu’s administration of favouring the South over the North, citing the unequal distribution of the country’s resources.
