The police command in Kwara has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Muhamodu Sanni, while attempting to collect a ransom via a point-of-sale terminal.

The command, in a statement by its spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Wednesday, said Mr Sanni’s arrest came after three persons were kidnapped in Obudu on July 28 in Ilorin East local council of Kwara.

‎”Rather than limit operational efforts to the immediate scene of the attack, investigators widened the scope of investigation to the communication, logistics and financial channels sustaining the criminal operation,” the statement said.

According to the command, this strategy yielded results when intelligence surrounding the ransom transaction was successfully exploited, leading operatives to Mr Sanni, who was intercepted at a point-of-sale location while trying to collect the ransom linked to the abduction.

“He also provided information regarding other members of the syndicate, including two suspects identified as Aminu and Umar. The disclosures have further strengthened the intelligence picture of the network and provided additional operational leads that are being discreetly exploited,” the police statement said.

‎Police commissioner Ojo Adekimi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to disrupt criminal networks, degrade their capabilities and deny them freedom of action, urging members of the public to sustain their support through timely, credible and actionable information.
