Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara has approved the appointment of a seven-member committee to interface with the Woro community on the provision of humanitarian support to victims of terror attacks.

Mr Abdulrazaq announced the constitution of the committee in a statement by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Friday in Ilorin, the state capital.

The governor said the committee would engage community leaders on rebuilding efforts, assess the needs of survivors, and address other outstanding issues arising from the incident in Woro, Kaiama Local Government Area.

“The committee is chaired by Mr Ahmed Kiwozi, a former lawmaker from Kaiama, with the vice chairman of Kaiama Local Government Council, Mrs Aisha Sadiq; the former state commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Abubakar Mora; and the Woro Village Head, Alhaji Umar Saliu, as members.

“Others include a representative of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), a representative of the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), and a female representative from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
“The committee is expected to submit its report within four weeks,” he said.

No fewer than 75 persons were reported killed and about five abducted by gunmen in the Woro community in Kwara on Tuesday evening.
