Kylian Mbappé “happy” with return to Cameroon amidst transfer saga

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé is currently in his native country of Cameroon, where he has been meeting people since his arrival in what was the footballer’s first trip to the West African country since he was a teenager.
The former Monaco forward said he is honoured to be back in his country of origin. “I’m so happy to be here,” he added, saying that people have shown him so much “love”.
The 24-year-old is also currently on humanitarian mission on behalf of his foundation, which hopes to help young Cameroonians actualise their dreams. Mbappé, born to a Cameroonian father but currently plays internationally for France – his country of birth.
On Friday, Mbappé met with Cameroon’s Prime Minister Joseph Ngute, along with other officials. He was also spotted with Cameroonian MMA star Francis Ngannou and former Chicago Bulls star Joakim Noah at Noah’s court amidst the presence of huge onlookers.
Mbappé has made a name for himself in France and was part of the Les Blues squad that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia as a then 18-year-old but still massively adored by the people of Cameroon, the country he was eligible to play for at international level.
He is currently at loggerheads with his club PSG over his future with the French club.
Last month, the footballer informed the club that he would not be extending his contract with them and resulted in him being informed by the club’s hierarchy to either sign an extension now or be sold before the end of the current transfer window.
