Labour Party presents free nomination forms to Abia governor
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has received the Labour Party nomination forms free of charge ahead of the 2027 general election.
The party’s national chairperson, Nenadi Usman led the delegation of the national working committee to Mr Otti’s lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, where the ceremony took place.
Ms Usman commended the governor for serving as the poster boy of the party and for implementing the party’s ideals of equal opportunity and social justice in the governance of Abia State.
She said the nomination forms were presented free of charge in recognition of Mr Otti’s performance in office and to encourage him to continue delivering quality governance in the state.
The party’s National Secretary, Obioma Iheanacho, thanked the governor for his steadfast faith in and commitment to the Labour Party, “even at a time when the party was faced with internal challenges.”
Mr Iheanacho said, “Many others had abandoned it for different political platforms. He praised the governor’s consistency, both in politics and governance.”
Mr Otti thanked the party leadership for the gesture, saying he did not take the honour lightly and would continue to support the party.
He also commended Ms Usman for steering the party out of its protracted internal crisis.
Those present at the event included the party’s National Organising Secretary, Oluchi Oparah; National Woman Leader, Hilda Dokubo; and the National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa.
Others in attendance were former National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha, who also received a free nomination form, and Ginger Onwusibe, alongside federal lawmakers from Abia State and members of the state executive council.
