Lady arraigned for damaging ex-boyfriend’s properties

A 26-year-old woman, Oluwatobilola Emmanuel, on Wednesday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court over allegations of wilful damage to her ex-boyfriend’s property worth N1.6 million.
Ms Emmanuel, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to a charge of wilful damage.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that Ms Emmanuel committed the offence on March 24, at Lucina Joseph St., off Yusuf Sanusi Surulere, Lagos.
Mr Ekhueorohan alleged that Ms Emmanuel, who used to be the complainant’s girlfriend, deliberately smashed the windscreen of his Toyota Camry, shattered his LG television and Apple Macbook pro laptop.
He said that the items damaged were valued at N1.6 million, property of Aliu Balogun.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate M. I. Dan-Oni admitted Ms Emmanuel to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Mrs Dan-Oni ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned until April 8 for further hearing.
