The Lagos State Water Corporation says supply will be temporarily disrupted in parts of Lagos to allow critical repair and replacement works at the Adiyan I Water Treatment Plant.

It listed areas to be affected, including Akiode, Ikeja, Magodo, Oregun, Ketu, Ojota, Maryland, Aromire, Ogudu, Gbagada, Shomolu, Ojuelegba, Oyingbo, Ijora Olopa, Agege, and parts of Lagos Island.

This was announced in a statement by its managing director, Mukhtaar Tijani, on Tuesday.

The managing director noted that the disruption became necessary to address a major leakage on the ND1600mm Adiyan raw water pipeline.

He said the leakage at the Akute Intake station had continued to affect the smooth execution of the ongoing Adiyan Phase II construction project.

Mr Tijani noted that persistent water discharge had saturated the surrounding soil, weakened ground stability, and created safety risks for heavy construction equipment deployed at the site.

He mentioned that the Adiyan I Water Treatment Plant would be temporarily shut down to enable the safe and effective completion of repair works and facilitate progress on the Adiyan II intake construction.

The managing director assured residents that efforts are being intensified to complete the works promptly, adding that the water supply would be restored as soon as repairs are concluded.
