Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Lagos State chapter, Cornelius Ojelabi, has called on party members and residents to embrace unity, renewal, and selfless service as Christians commemorate Good Friday.

Mr Ojelabi made the call in a Good Friday message issued in Lagos, urging reflection on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and its relevance to nation-building.

He said: “On this sacred day of Good Friday, we commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ for the salvation of humanity.

“His (Jesus Christ) selflessness, love, and ultimate act of suffering as an atonement for the sins of man remind us of the values of humility, charity, forgiveness, and service to our fellow brothers and sisters.

“As a political party, let us draw strength from His example by committing ourselves to promoting unity and progress for the collective good of our great nation.”

According to him, Christians across Nigeria and the world are united in reflecting on “the profound sacrifice and love of our Lord Jesus Christ for our redemption.”

The APC chairman noted that Christ’s life and death remain a powerful example of selflessness and compassion for humanity.

He urged Nigerians not to take the significance of Christ’s sacrifice lightly, describing it as central to the Christian faith and moral responsibility.

Quoting John 19:28-30, Mr Ojelabi recalled Christ’s final words, saying, “It is finished,” symbolising the completion of His earthly mission.

He expressed hope that, just as Christ fulfilled His purpose, “every affliction and tribulation in our lives shall also come to an end.”

The chairman described the Easter period as a season of renewal, transformation, and fresh beginnings for individuals and the nation.

Mr Ojelabi further prayed for “breakthrough, peace, and divine favour” for all Nigerians during the period and beyond.

The chairman acknowledged the challenges facing Nigeria but expressed optimism about the country’s future.

He called for sustained unity among citizens, emphasising the importance of collective effort in overcoming national challenges.

“Let this Good Friday inspire us to continue working together as one people, united in purpose and vision.

“The challenges we face as a nation are not insurmountable. With faith in God, personal resilience, and a shared commitment to progress, we shall overcome

“On behalf of the APC in Lagos, I pray that the blessings of Good Friday will bring hope, healing, and restoration to you and your families,” he said.

He expressed hope that the Easter season would usher in lasting peace and prosperity across the country.
