Lagos By-election: APC wins all three councillorship seats

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has declared candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winners of Tuesday’s councillorship by-election in the state.
The commission declared the candidates on the result sheets made available to journalists after the collation of results in each affected ward.
The commission declared Kafayat Rufai of the APC the winner of the by-election in Orimedu I Ward C of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area.
The electoral body said Mrs Rufai polled 8,386 votes, defeating her rival, Samsideen Sanusi of the National Democratic Party (NDP), who secured 27 votes.
The umpire said no vote was recorded for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the ward.
Also, the commission declared Samiat Shotayo of the APC winner of the by-election in Kayode/Fadeyi Ward H of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mushin.
According to LASIEC, Mrs Shotayo scored 3,820 votes, defeating Ifeanyi Onwenu of the ADC, who polled 260 votes, and Omobolanle Shotayo of the NDP, who secured 28 votes.
Similarly, LASIEC declared Kehinde Jolaosho of the APC the winner of the by-election in Bajulaye/Fola Agoro Ward F of Somolu Local Government Area.
The commission said Mrs Jolaosho polled 2,546 votes, defeating Ifeanyi Anyamebechi of the ADC, who secured 157 votes, and Joseph Abalokun of the NDP, who scored 23 votes.
The by-election was conducted to fill vacant councillorship seats in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA and Somolu Local Government Area.
The commission said the election became necessary to ensure continued democratic representation and effective grassroots governance following the demise of councillors representing the affected wards.
