Lagos CP summons inspector for assaulting Uber driver

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has summoned an inspector, Obic Modestus, for allegedly assaulting an Uber driver.
The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed in a post on Monday that the errant officer will face disciplinary action.
A video that went viral on Monday saw the inspector, in the company of three other officers, assaulting an Uber driver in his vehicle for taking a video of them with his phone.
The officer was seen repeatedly slapping the driver and asking him, “Are you mad?” on each occasion. He then ordered his colleague to “collect that phone from his hand” and said, “You dey video police.”
The victim was also dragged to their patrol van on the other side of the road, where the brutalisation continued, including trying to forcefully dispossess him of his phone.
The passengers, while contemplating boarding another vehicle due to the delay, filmed the incident, but one of the officers demanded that they delete the videos.
However, Mr Hundeyin said, “The police officer, Inspector Obic Modestus, has been summoned by the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) @LagosPoliceNG. He will be handed over to the Provost Department for appropriate disciplinary measures.
“The Lagos State Police Command, under CP Olohundare Jimoh, will not condone any form of incivility to members of the public.”
