Lagos Elites Lions Club, one of the clubs in Lions Clubs International, has inaugurated a renovated school clinic and a reconstructed 14-unit toilet block at Arowosegbe Nursery and Primary School, Ketu, Lagos State.

The projects were inaugurated on Friday by District Governor, Kemi Eribake, and the Club President, Lucy Unegbu, to boost healthcare delivery and sanitation for pupils.

The intervention covered a complete overhaul of the school clinic and major upgrades to sanitation facilities within the school premises.

The club donated hospital-standard metal bed frames, mattresses, pillows, a first aid box, rechargeable fans, and window blinds for the clinic.

It also constructed a soakaway pit, repaired plumbing, fixed the pumping machine, and donated a 1,000-litre water tank to improve water supply.

District Governor, Ms Eribake, said the projects reflected the club’s commitment to humanitarian service.

“We serve humanity. We make our world a better place for us to live,” she said.

Ms Eribake urged community members to join the organisation and support its service activities.

“You can see the impact today. Come on, join us,” she said.

She officially declared the projects open and encouraged newly inducted members to recruit others into the club.

Also, the Club President, Ms Unegbu, said the projects aimed to create a healthier and safer learning environment for children.

“A healthy child learns better,” she said.

She said access to clean sanitation and a functional school clinic would improve pupils’ wellbeing and classroom concentration.

Ms Unegbu urged the school, parents, and the community to maintain the facilities for long-term benefits.

She said the projects were funded through the collective efforts of club members, sponsors, and partners.

The president disclosed that a partner hospital would supply over-the-counter medicines for the clinic for one year.

The Headmistress of the school, Aderemi Aromolaran, commended the club for the intervention and appealed for continued support.

The event also featured the induction of six new members, who were administered the Lions creed by Ayoola Olatunji and presented with club regalia.

Awards were presented to deserving members, with Josha Inyang named Lion of the Year, while Chinwe Enwereuzor, Blessing Nkwocha and Esther Okoro received appreciation awards.

Representatives of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, Lions members and other stakeholders attended the ceremony.
