Lagos: Epe chairwoman mourns traditional ruler

The chairman of Epe LGA, Surah Animashaun, has expressed sorrow over the death of the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, Oba Shefiu Adewale.
Ms Animashahun said on Monday his death was a blow to the Epe division.
Ms Adewale died in the early hours of May 1 and was buried the same day in Epw in accordance with Islamic rites.
The council chairwoman said the late Oba was a beacon of wisdom, peace, and cultural preservation.
“The demise of His Royal Majesty is a painful one not just for the royal family and the people of Epe but for all of Lagos state.
“Oba Adewale’s legacy of peace, inclusiveness, and development will forever remain etched in our hearts,” she said.
She noted that the Olu-Epe was a stabilising force in his domain, who worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between tradition and modern governance.
According to her, the leadership of the late traditional ruler was marked by integrity, humility, and a tireless commitment to community development.
Ms Animashahun condoled with the family, the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, the Epe Traditional Council, and the entire Epe people, urging them to take solace in the impactful life the Oba had lived.
She called for unity and reflection during this period of mourning while praying for the peaceful repose of the departed soul.
Ms Animashahun urged all sons and daughters of Epe, both at home and in the diaspora, to unite and give the Oba a befitting burial.
