The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation on Monday said the Federal Ministry of Works will commence replacement of the expansion joint at Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday.

Bolanle Ogunlola, director of public affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, disclosed this in a statement in Lagos.

“The project is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, July 28 for a period of two weeks.

“Consequently, motorists are advised to expect partial traffic disruptions around the Kara axis during the repair period.

“Motorists are urged to exercise patience, obey traffic regulations, and cooperate with traffic management officials deployed along the corridor,” she said.

Ms Ogunlola said to facilitate repairs, the existing four-lane carriageway would be temporarily reduced to two lanes over a 1.5-kilometre stretch to provide a safe work zone.

She said moderate traffic is expected around Fatgbems, as some motorists make U-turns or seek alternative routes to avoid delays.

“However, traffic heading towards Ibadan beyond Fatgbems is expected to flow freely with minimal disruption.

“The ministry also encourages road users to plan their journeys in advance, consider alternative routes where possible, and comply with all traffic advisories to minimise delays,” she said.

She said the ministry appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the public during the period, adding that the rehabilitation work is aimed at improving the safety of the bridge, for the benefit of road users.
