Lagos govt begins removal of illegal structures in Ajah as evacuation notice expires

The Lagos State government has begun the removal of illegal structures around the Jakande Estate and Maiyegun in Ajah.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on his official X handle on Sunday.

Mr Wahab, who shared a video of the exercise, said it followed the expiration of the relocation notices served on squatters residing in shanties.

He said the move was to reclaim the coastal road alignment and enhance the area’s aesthetics.

“Following the expiration of the relocation notice served on squatters in shanties built around the Jakande Estate and Maiyegun axis of Ajah, the Lagos State government will, today, commence the removal of the illegal structures to reclaim the coastal road alignment and restore the aesthetics of the area,” he said.
