Lagos govt pledges affordable housing stock for residents

The Lagos state government says it is working hard to increase housing stock and provide more affordable housing options for the state residents.
The state commissioner for housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, said this in a statement signed by the deputy director, public affairs of the ministry, Ganiu Lawal, on Monday in Lagos.
The commissioner gave the assurance when he led a technical team of the ministry on a tour of the ongoing LagosHOMS housing project at Ajara, Badagry.
The commissioner said that Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration was committed to providing quality and affordable housing to Lagos residents.
According to him, the commitment is evident in the ongoing LagosHOMS project.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of the construction.
He emphasised the importance of using high-quality materials and meeting project deadlines.
Mr Akinderu-Fatai said that the LagosHOMS project was designed to meet the housing needs of residents of Lagos West Senatorial District.
He said that the project consisted of 420 housing units in 35 blocks of various sizes.
He advised contractors to get approval from the ministry’s technical team before using any building materials on the project.
According to him, getting the approval would ensure the usage of only approved materials, maintain quality and prevent delays.
