Lagos lawmaker distributes food items, cash to 500 widows

A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Temitope Adewale, on Monday distributed food items and cash to 500 widows in his constituency.
Mr Adewale, representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I in the assembly, provided the items and the financial support, amounting to N10 million, to the beneficiaries during the 5th edition of his Widows Empowerment Initiative.
The lawmaker expressed his commitment to giving hope to the needy in the constituency in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Mr Adewale, who thanked his constituents for their trust and continuous support, said his vision was to make Ifako-Ijaiye residents the most empowered in the state.
“We will continue to give back to the people that voted for us. All these we are doing is to show that we learnt from our leader, President Bola Tinubu,” he said.
Mr Adewale promised free health insurance registration for residents and announced that about 100 people had registered for his free adult literacy classes.
The beneficiaries as well as party and community leaders at the event, took turns to applaud the lawmaker for providing effective representation and making life better for his constituents.
Speaking, APC Chairman in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Banjo Omole, said the party made the right choice by fielding Mr Adewale in previous elections.
“Since we brought out Temitope, he has met our expectations. He has constantly touched the lives of constituents, students, and members of our party,” Mr Omole said.
He urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in Ifako-Ijaiye, Samuel Opajobi, described Mr Adewale as a lover of mankind and an achiever.
Mr Opajobi, who said the lawmaker’s contributions had impacted many lives within the constituency, noted that he deserved more support.
The Leader of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Legislative Arm, Adebo Kayode, said the people were happy with Mr Adewale’s performance.
“We have no regret having Temitope Adedeji as our lawmaker. We are proud of his achievements and hereby endorse him for another term,” he said.
The new traditional ruler in the area, Matthew Ogundimu of Iju-Ogundimu Kingdom in Ifako-Ijaiye Area, commended the lawmaker for his consistent support to the people.
“His (Adewale) efforts have yielded great results. We can all see the difference he is making in our community,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Abosede Duduyemi, who expressed gratitude for the gesture, said the lawmaker gave them N10,000 each in the last event and double the amount in the current one.
“We were given N20,000 each now and the food stuff is more this time round,” Mrs Duduyemi said.
Mr Duduyemi, who spoke on behalf of others, promised that they would continue to support the lawmaker in his future political ambition.
