Lagos lawmaker distributes free UTME forms to 1,200 indigent students

A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), Stephen Ogundele, has begun the distribution of the 2026 Free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms to 1,200 indigent students in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1.
Mr Ogundipe, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, made this known in a statement in Lagos on Wednesday.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday commenced the sale of application forms for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Mr Ogundipe explained that the initiative, which was the third edition, was to promote access to quality education and reduce the financial burden on parents and guardians within his constituency.
He said the free forms would be distributed across the five wards in his constituency and given to candidates with LASRRA identity cards, who had been residing within Oshodi-Isolo in the state.
The lawmaker also urged them to apply promptly, as selection would be based on outlined criteria and available 1,000 slots.
He said the programme had, over the years, positively impacted many students and families.
He, therefore, reaffirmed the belief that education remained a vital tool for empowerment and sustainable development.
Mr Ogundipe said, “The programme is designed to support eligible students who aspire to further their education by sitting for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
“Members of the general public, particularly residents of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency-01, are hereby invited to take advantage of this opportunity.”
He urged the students to take their education seriously and avoid distractions, noting that education was key for future success.
The lawmaker cautioned them against cultism, drug abuse, and alcohol intake while encouraging them to stay on the right path.
