Akinpelu Johnson, chairman of Alimosho LGA in Lagos, has called on staff to be disciplined and dedicated to official duties as the new year begins.
The chairman disclosed this on Tuesday during an address to the workers at the council’s multi-purpose hall.
Mr Johnson said that 2025 brought its share of challenges and achievements, adding that the progress recorded was achieved through the resilience, dedication, and commitment of the workforce.
“We are commending the staff for their sacrifices and loyalty to duty, as we describe them as the engine room of governance and critical to effective service delivery.
“Looking ahead, 2026 presents renewed opportunities for the council to do more and do better, as we charge the staff to be more disciplined and dedicated to their official duties,” he said.
The council chairman said that the administration’s priorities for the year include greater efficiency, accountability, discipline, and people-centred governance.
He called for stronger teamwork, strict adherence to ethical standards, and the adoption of innovative approaches to public service.
The chairman urged staff to approach the new year with renewed purpose, shunning complacency and embracing punctuality, professionalism, excellence, and integrity as core values.
He also emphasised that residents of Alimosho look up to public servants for leadership, fairness, and responsive governance, adding that the administration would not relent in meeting these expectations.
He assured workers of the administration’s continued commitment to staff welfare, capacity building, and a conducive working environment.
According to him, initiatives that enhance productivity and morale will be sustained in line with the administration’s agenda.
The chairman said he was confident that unity, diligence, and shared vision would make 2026 a landmark year for service delivery and community development in the council.
Lawal Adebayo, a member of staff, thanked the council chairman for his developmental plans for both the workers and residents.
Mr Adebayo assured the chairman of more dedication and effective service delivery in the new year.
