Lagos LG chairpersons tasked on good governance, campaign promises

Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, has called on the newly elected chairpersons of local government and local council development areas to fulfill their campaign promises and prioritise the welfare of their constituents.
Mr Ogunsanwo made this appeal during an interview in Eredo-Epe on Friday.
He emphasised the importance of elected leaders upholding transparency, accountability, and a people-oriented approach.
According to him, grassroots governance plays a vital role in fostering inclusive development and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the ordinary citizens in rural and semi-urban areas.
“The people have entrusted their votes and confidence in the chairmen with the hope that meaningful development will be brought to their communities. It is now time for them to walk the talk and justify that trust,” he said.
He urged the chairmen to focus on key sectors, including education, healthcare, rural infrastructure, youth empowerment, and job creation.
He noted that these areas would greatly impact the quality of life in their communities.
Mr Ogunsanwo also advised the political office holders to maintain open-door policies and consistent engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders.
He added that this was to ensure inclusive decision-making and sustainable development.
