Lagos man arrested for stealing N2.6 million

A 24-year-old man, Moses Kalejaiye, on Friday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for stealing N2.6 million.
Mr Kalejaiye is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with others still at large on October 3 at No. 4 Agbeke St. King George, Aradagun, Badagry.
Mr Adeosun said the defendant broke into the complainant’s apartment, Mr Tokenji Semako, and stole the money.
He said the defendant was caught by some neighbours, who handed him over to the police.
Mr Adeosun said the offences contravened sections 287, 411 and 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Section 287 stipulates a jail term of three years for stealing, while Section 411 provides two years for conspiracy.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendant bail of N500,000 with two sureties in the like sum and adjourned the case until February 24 for mention.
