A traditional ruler in Lagos State, Abdul-Lateef Egbeyemi, has described education as the foundation of progress and urged children to embrace discipline, learning and good character.

Mr Egbeyemi, the Ologba of Ogba Kingdom, spoke during a visit to Ogba Primary School, where he celebrated his birthday with pupils through a mentorship and interactive learning session.

The traditional ruler, also known as Madarikan I and former mathematics teacher, shared his teaching experiences and encouraged pupils to remain disciplined and focused on their studies.

He emphasised that education remained the foundation of progress and urged the pupils to pursue knowledge with dedication while building strong character and positive values.

“Education is the light of our future; without it, no kingdom can truly prosper,” he said.

The monarch highlighted his vision for human capital development and stressed that schools remained central to the development of Ogba Kingdom.

He noted that royal leadership must extend beyond palace walls and directly impact communities through initiatives aimed at empowering young people and supporting education.

“My ideology is to expand and build a high-class kingdom, and that starts with our children,” he said.

The event concluded with Mr Egbeyemi pledging continued support for schools, teachers and pupils across Ogba Kingdom.
