Lagos: Ojo LG chairman presents ₦9.8 billion 2026 budget

The chairman of Ojo Local Government Area, Lagos State, Muhibat Rufai-Adeyemi, on Thursday, presented a N9.8 billion budget for 2026, tagged ‘Budget of Renewed Hope,’ to the Legislative Council.
The presentation took place in the council’s legislative chamber.
Addressing the councillors, Ms Rufai-Adeyemi said the budget represents a commitment to transforming Ojo into a prosperous and secure community, pledging her administration’s dedication to this vision.
“This budget is our strategic blueprint to consolidate our gains and aggressively pursue the fulfilment of our promises to you, the people.
“You entrusted us with a mandate based on our Works and Infrastructure, Health and Social Welfare, Agriculture, Capacity-Development, Education/Library Services and ICT, and Security (WHACES) agenda, and we have pursued it with vigour. Our commitment to easing life and expanding access is evident,” she said.
Ms Rufai-Adeyemi assured residents that her administration’s WHACES agenda would be implemented more vigorously.
She vowed to embark on more road and drainage system construction and to ensure the newly built PHCs are fully equipped and staffed.
“The welfare of our residents, especially the elderly, the vulnerable, and our diligent staff, remains paramount. We promise to take proper care of you through more robust social intervention schemes, sustained empowerment, and improved working conditions.
“We will promote urban farming initiatives and support agribusinesses to enhance food security and create wealth, and plan more vocational and skills acquisition programmes, support for our artistes, and revitalisation of sports facilities to discover and nurture talents,” the LG boss stated.
The chairman said the council would focus on providing learning materials, sustaining ICT training programmes, upgrading libraries into true knowledge hubs, and ensuring the bursary award becomes a sustained pillar of educational support.
“We will strengthen our support for security agencies with necessary logistics and deepen our community policing efforts.
“Partnership with every community development association and stakeholder will be the bedrock of our governance, as we strive to maintain our award-winning community standards,” she said.
The chairman assured traditional rulers, religious leaders, CDA executives, and residents that all sectors of their requests would be addressed.
“I, therefore, with great faith and optimism, present to the Legislative House and to the great people of Ojo Local Government the 2026 Budget of Renewed Hope,” she said.
Responding, Jimoh Ramon, legislative leader, assured that they would promptly review and start implementing the budget.
Mr Ramon commended the chairman for the early presentation of the budget to the house.
Traditional rulers, traditional chiefs, APC chieftains, the council’s management team, and residents graced the presentation.
