Lagos: Police arrest three suspected robbers, recover firearm

The police command in Lagos has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally made pistol loaded with ammunition in the Sangotedo area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, stating that the arrests were made between April 11 and April 13, 2026, following a distress call.
“Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers in connection with incidents of conspiracy and armed robbery at an estate, Sangotedo, which occurred on April 11 and April 13, 2026’
“The suspects, identified as Balogun Teslim ‘m’, Suleman Balogun ‘m’, and Peter Oluwagbemi ‘m’, were apprehended following a distress call,” Mrs Adebisi said.
She further noted that items such as locally made pistols loaded with six rounds of live 9mm ammunition, two black face masks, a hammer, ropes, a large roll of cellophane tape, two black jackets, and a pair of pliers were recovered during the raid.
According to Mrs Adebisi, the suspects were mobbed by members of the public before the arrival of the police, adding that they were subsequently rescued and taken to a Police medical facility, where they are currently receiving treatment.
“Two of the suspects have confessed to the crime and identified one Kinsley ‘m’, who is currently at large, as their gang leader. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring all those involved to justice,” she added.
Shestated that the commissioner of police in the state, Tijani Fatia, reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for violent crimes and strongly warned against jungle justice, urging residents to always report suspected criminal activities to the Police.
She urged the members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929.
