The police command in Lagos State has detained four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly linked to recent killings, armed robbery and cult-related activities in the Ajah axis of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Ms Adebisi said that the suspects, who are between the ages of 26 and 32 years, were apprehended during sustained follow-up operations in connection with a robbery case.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are linked to recent robbery activities around Ajah, Sangotedo and Ibeju-Lekki.

“They also made confessional statements regarding their alleged involvement in armed robbery, murder and cultism,” she said.

She said operatives recovered three locally-made pistols, one live round of ammunition, two battle axes and a Point-of-Sale machine from the suspects.

The spokesperson said the suspects remained in police custody and were assisting with investigations, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang and recover additional exhibits.

According to her, the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The spokesperson said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Fatai Tijani, commended the operatives for their diligence and sustained follow-up efforts.

“CP Tijani, while commending officers, directed the operatives to intensify efforts to apprehend other members of the gang.

“He warned cultists, armed robbers and other violent criminals that the command will continue to deploy intelligence-led operations to track them down and bring them to justice,” Ms Adebisi said.

She encouraged residents to report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines for prompt police response.

“Report through these lines: 07061019374, 08065154338080632992640803934487008080193432 (Marine), 09168630929,” she said.
