Lagos: Policeman stabs tricycle rider to death over N100 bribe

There was tension in the Ile-Iwe area of Command, Lagos, on Thursday, after a policeman from Meiran Division stabbed a Keke rider known as Eleyele to death.
Peoples Gazette learnt that the cop identified as Olu stabbed Mr Ibrahim for refusing to give him a N100 bribe.
“The police officer stabbed a (Keke) NAPEP rider because of money, and as it is, some tricycle operators have halted commercial activities and have threatened to retaliate,” a source told The Gazette.
Another source told The Gazette that the tricycle riders have mobilised themselves to the scene and have vowed to retaliate.
A video of the incident seen by The Gazette saw Mr Ibrahim on the ground with bloodstains.
When contacted, the DPO of Meiran Division, Toyosi Shokunbi, declined to comment on the matter.
However, the spokesperson for the police command in Lagos, Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the incident but said he had yet to be briefed.
“I’m aware of the matter but yet to get the full details of what happened,” Mr Ajisebutu said.
