Lagos restaurants record surge in patronage on Easter Sunday

Restaurants in Ikeja, Lagos, were filled to capacity on Easter Sunday, as residents thronged them to celebrate the festive occasion.
Large gatherings of families and friends visited popular dining spots across the area to enjoy a variety of meals in a lively atmosphere.
The celebrations reflected a blend of culture, leisure and social interaction, as residents marked the holiday with food, relaxation and shared experiences.
Popular restaurants, including Yellow Chilli, Iyeru Okin, Cilantro and Spur Steak, recorded a surge in customer turnout, with many struggling to accommodate the influx of diners.
At several locations, patrons had to wait for available seats, as high demand for dining spaces created a bustling, competitive environment.
Restaurants such as Jevinik Restaurant, Kilimanjaro, and The Place also witnessed increased patronage, with dishes like jollof rice and village rice in high demand.
Many restaurants combined dine-in services with takeaway options, allowing customers to still enjoy meals despite the large crowds.
Easter Sunday also saw a rise in home deliveries, as some residents opted for a quieter celebration in the comfort of their homes.
Some diners expressed excitement at the lively atmosphere.
A resident, Oluwaseun Adeyemi, described the experience as “fun and refreshing”, noting that the festive mood made dining out more enjoyable.
Chinedu Okafor said the turnout was impressive despite the economic situation.
“It shows how much people value spending time with loved ones during celebrations,” he said.
Ibrahim Musa noted that the variety of food options made the outing worthwhile, saying, “There was something for everyone, and the energy was great.”
Kemi Balogun commended restaurant operators for managing the crowd, noting that they were well organised and coordinated.
The restaurants are expected to record similar turnout on Easter Monday, with many offering special menus and promotions to sustain the festive momentum.
