Lagos teacher faces trial over alleged sexual assault, forcing student to drink harmful substance

A 37-year-old teacher, Mukaila Ismaila, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly sexually assaulting a student.
The defendant, who resides at No. 4 Oluwadare St., Ayobo, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of sexual assault and administering a noxious substance to the victim.
The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 6, at a tutorial centre n Ayobo, Lagos.
He said that the defendant summoned a 16-year-old girl into an empty classroom and forced her to drink a substance.
“The defendant then touched the victim’s body and private parts inappropriately,” the prosecutor said.
He said the offences contravened Sections 246 and 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 246 provides for a three-year jail term for anyone found guilty of unlawfully administering a noxious substance to another person.
Section 263 provides three years imprisonment for sexual assault.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, O. A Odubayo, granted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Mrs Odubayo adjourned the case until December 18 for mention.
