Lagos: Teenage burglar pleads guilty, remanded in Ikoyi Correctional Centre

Eighteen-year-old Fawas Adedokun pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary and theft before the Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Friday.

The police charged the teenager for allegedly burgling an apartment and stealing property worth N286,000.

Following his guilty plea, Magistrate Sadiq Bello ordered that the defendant should be kept at the  Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending review of the case and sentencing, on January 26.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Sadiq Adewale, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 23 at Block 8, Flat 5, Rabiatu Thompson Crescent, Shitta, Surulere.

Mr Adewale alleged that the defendant broke into the apartment of Nasifat Ganiyu with the intent to commit the crimes.

He said that the defendant stole one standing fan, one air-conditioner, a Samsung television set, a gas cylinder and cooking pots, all valued at N286,000.

The prosecutor submitted that the alleged offences contravened Sections 287 (1), 307 and 308 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
